Give to someone in need
Acts 435 is about giving to people directly, to help them bridge the gap when they are facing a financial crisis.
Can you help a specific person in need?
Read stories of the applicants below and give as you feel able. Any amount will make a big difference to someone who is struggling.
You can instead make a general donation and the Acts 435 team will allocate it to the most urgent requests.
This young person, a vulnerable asylum seeker and torture survivor, requires your support to help him attend meetings with his solicitor in order to prepare his asylum appeal. Travelling to London from his Home Office accommodation costs him £30, therefore, £120 would cover four meetings and allow him to work with his solicitor in preparing his appeal.

Total needed £120This gentleman came to the centre in a distressed state, having been given a seven day notice to leave a South East Essex Homes property in Southend. He is also a type 2 diabetic who is insulin-dependent, making it highly inconvenient and unsafe for him to be on the street. We urgently request your help to house this gentleman for three nights, and provide food parcels for this period, while we collaborate with sister agencies to find a more permanent housing solution.

Total needed £200This mother, who was referred to us by a sister organisation, is living in local authority accommodation which has developed a severe mould problem. As a result, mum was forced to move into temporary housing until the issue was resolved. Now that she has returned to her home, many of her belongings are damaged beyond repair. Mum urgently needs a new bed and mattress, among other things. Any help towards this endeavour will be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £200This single mother of two was referred to us by our sister organisation as she is in need of a large fridge freezer. As a single mum with a baby and a three-year-old with disabilities, the lack of a fridge freezer impacts her meal preparation and storage, causing significant stress and requiring multiple bus journeys with her children. This also strains mum's finances, and so we would also like to provide a food parcel for a couple of weeks. Any assistance towards this would be greatly appreciated.

Total needed £200This woman, who is a victim of domestic violence, has been in a refuge with her two year old daughter for several months. The situation is extremely stressful, affecting her health and her child's emotional and social development. With no support network, mum has secured a tenancy in Southend, but can't move due to a lack of basic goods. We kindly request your assistance to help furnish her new home. Specifically, we need a washing machine and a month's supply of food for this mother and child. Thank you.

Total needed £200This gentleman has been attending the St Vincent de Paul centre for several months. His mental health was severely impacted, but through collaboration with the Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) mental health team and our services, he has made significant progress. Now working towards personal empowerment and independence, this gentleman has applied to be a mechanic in Basildon. We request assistance in purchasing comfortable workwear (shoes, trousers and a jacket) and transport fees for two weeks to support his journey to personal independence. Thank you for your support.

Total needed £200M, a single lady, is a client of the Sue Lambert Trust whose circumstances changed overnight after the recent passing of her severely disabled young son. Her benefits stopped, due to her no longer being a carer, and she made a claim for Universal Credit, but there is a five week wait for the claim to be fully processed. M is finding it difficult to manage financially, due to funeral costs and having no income for the next few weeks, and would appreciate any help towards food, bills and rent.

Total needed £200Our client has recently moved to the area with his children, leaving mum behind, as she is currently unfit to parent. He is low down on the housing list, but has managed to get a small flat. Our client has had to leave his job to look after the children, one who has autism. Dad is applying for benefits, but no money has come through yet. His flat doesn't have a washing machine so we would like to be able to provide one.

They were low down on the housing list, but managed to get a small flat. Our client had to leave his job so that he could look after the children, one of whom has autism. Dad is applying for benefits but has not received any money through yet. We have requested a washing machine and this request would pay for the installation.

Total needed £200We are looking to support this grandad who has taken his four grandchildren into his home to avoid them being taken into care. The children's mum (his daughter) is sadly unable to manage the children and is being supported by agencies to resolve her mental health issues. The biggest issue facing grandad is how the four children will sleep, as space is limited and the cost of new beds is prohibitive. The children range in age from two to seven and so bunk beds seem the best option. Thank you for your support.

Total needed £200£200 is requested towards suitable floor covering for a young couple and their fifteen month old baby. They were formerly homeless and in a hostel, but have now been allocated a new rental property with no floor covering except in the kitchen and bathroom. There is bare concrete downstairs and bare timber on the stairs and upstairs, which is not suitable for a baby. The couple are on Universal Credit and cannot afford the necessary floor covering.
