We first heard about this young family from the staff at school. They were made homeless, placed in temporary emergency accommodation and unable to take any of their possessions with them. They had nothing but the few clothes they could carry. The local authority has now found a suitable home for mum and her two young children, but they need a cooker as soon as possible. L is a single parent who is being supported by Social Services. He doesn't have anywhere to keep his daughter's clothes, which makes it very hard to keep them clean and neat, and is adversely affecting her. He is being supported by Social Services as a former looked-after child. L is on Universal Credit, but there have been delays processing his application and he can't afford to purchase much for his new home. In particular, he needs a washing machine so that he can keep his clothes and bedding clean.

Our client and her partner are in touch with Family Matters as they would like some support for their relationship. They see the importance of the Reconnect sessions that are available, but they are struggling financially so cannot afford the session fees. They are being helped by their doctor and are keen to take advantage of this opportunity to rebuild their relationship, and rebuild their lives.

This Iranian refugee couple, who are living in Leeds with their teenage son, are asking for your help to purchase a refurbished cooker for their home. They have failed to convince their landlord to replace a broken down one. As the father is recently out of work and they are without savings to purchase one, the mother is struggling to cook healthy meals for the family. Please would you help them with £200 to purchase one and return their home to a place of wholesome cooking and reduced family stress?

T and her partner have been moved out of their flat, due to a leaking roof that caused damp and everything was ruined. They have nothing in this new flat and literally have had to start from scratch. We are helping them try to source what they can, but on their low disability benefits it isn't easy. They have found a washing machine for £230 plus delivery and they can raise £50 for it. Please could we help with the remaining £180 so that they can wash their clothes and feel more settled?

K's wife sadly passed away in July 2023 and this has left him unable to pay debts because his household income has halved. This has resulted in his home being repossessed, leaving a large debt. K is simply unable to pay his debts and it is having a very real and significant impact on his mental health. He needs to go bankrupt as this is the only possible solution. We have raised the majority of the fee, but need some support with the remainder.

We're working with him to balance his budget and he currently spends over £100 a month on renting appliances. We have supplied a new washer, but he needs a fridge freezer which will have a huge impact on his ability to manage his money.

K has recently left a violent relationship as her ex-partner abused her physically, emotionally and financially. She has been left with a mountain of debt which she cannot deal with. K is being threatened with eviction and her landlord wants a solution to K's debt problems that will make her able to sustain her rent payments. That solution is bankruptcy. Please would you help us keep K in her home and support her with funds towards her bankruptcy?

K has recently escaped domestic violence and has been housed here. She has three young children and one with complex disabilities. K has no carpets anywhere and is especially concerned about the stairs that have nails etc. on them, with her toddlers and the disabled child. She desperately needs some carpet, but has very basic benefit income. A local carpet shop will deliver stair carpet for £200 and she will manage the fitting charge. Please could we help?

This recently divorced, single parent was self employed, but has been ill and unable to work for the last year. She is scheduled for major abdominal surgery in November, followed by a lengthy recovery before she can resume working. Mum has two children, one with additional needs. She will be unable to hand wash their clothes or take them to a launderette during her recovery, leaving her with no other options. Mum has used any savings she had to secure her family home after her divorce.

This applicant and her husband have two children, aged ten and one. They moved to the UK from Cameroon, four weeks ago, and and are setting up home from scratch. They are not in receipt of any benefits. Mum is training and working on a Secured Worker Visa, and dad is hopefully starting work shortly. As a family with children and currently with very limited funds, they would benefit greatly from a fridge freezer to help manage their food purchasing and storage. This lady suffers with a bladder disability, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and arthritis. Her only income is Employment and Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payment. R is a pensioner living alone and, despite his illnesses, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), he is trying to live independently for as long as possible. R is in desperate need of a replacement cooker. The council serviced his cooker, identified a gas leak and turned the gas off immediately, leaving him with no way of cooking meals. R is living on his pension and has very little disposable income once his bills are paid. Cooking is something that brings R joy.

M is an asylum seeker who has a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is passionate about his major and would like to study for a Masters and work in the UK. He is required to apply for a Statement of Comparability. M needs your support to be able to afford paying for the National Academic Recognition Information Centres in the European Union (NARIC) fees, as he has no financial income and cannot work, due to being an asylum seeker. This statement will allow M to continue his dreams and start his new life in safety in the UK.

J, a single mum of three children, had to leave her part-time job, due to ill health. Her daughter desperately needs a single bed, but mum does not have the money to buy one. Her daughter is still sleeping in a cot bed which she has now outgrown. We would like to ask if you can help us to support J with the £150 needed to buy a single bed for her daughter so she can have a proper night's sleep, which will mean she is more refreshed for nursery. It will also relieve some of the worry J is under.
