£145 needed for storage
This lady has been assigned from refugee to asylum seeker, which has meant a change in accommodation and benefits with very little notice. Mum and her two year old daughter have been given a room with no storage space, therefore, they need six weeks storage of their possessions, such as daughters toys, kitchen equipment etc. Mum, who is being supported by our family project, as she is being treated for throat cancer, gave birth the day she arrived in the UK, and dad has only just been given a visa to come to the UK.
£200 needed for a washing machine
A is a refugee who has just been granted leave to remain in the UK. This means that he has to leave his temporary accommodation immediately. A has secured a tenancy of his own, but it is unfurnished. He fled his home country with nothing and has not been able to work whilst his refugee claim was assessed. A has no savings, is on a low income and can't afford to furnish his flat. His most urgent need is for a washing machine so that he can keep his clothes and bedding clean.
